Title: 40 days – Matthew: A Conversation with God

Author: Jo Swinney

Useful for: anyone wanting a simple journal-style book to explore the book of Matthew as a family, group or individual

Best bit: Lovely book (nice paper, faux leather cover like a Moleskin book, nice font, text colour and spacious layout) with lots of space to read, reflect, write and draw as a spiritual exploration of Matthews Gospel.

Worst bit: This book doesn’t include the full text of Matthew as I thought it might, but if it did it would be a much bigger book or not allow the lovely space which the book currently has.

Available for £3.99 (updated Feb 2023)

It’s unlike me to review a book I think would work well for family devotions, but this journal, although probably designed for individuals would work well for a family with children age 7+ including teens. The Bible http://your-pharmacies.com text is included in the book which makes it easy to use especially when you wanted to take it out with you somewhere. Which you will as the book is so nice 🙂

There are various ways this could work for families. Some might find getting each family member their own copy would work best, while others would happily work from one book.

The various passages each have short comments and questions as well as lots of space for drawing and writing. There’s a nice variety of different types of reflection which probably appeal to different family members at different times. It would be easy to add your own thoughts or questions or method of exploring the Bible together.

I can honestly say I really like this book and would recommend it. Can’t wait to see more in the 40 days series.
