Title: The Good things about Bad Days

By: Margaret McAllister and Nigel Baines

Price: £9.97

Published by: Lion

Good for: children age 7-12 years

Best bit: Lots of helpful guidance and strategy ideas for working through bad days, with lots of space to fill things in and make the book your own.

Worst bit: Pages 43-59 are labelled Your notebook and are pretty much blank, which is nice as it’s great to have space to draw and write, but maybe not what I expected!

More thoughts:

My daughter (age 9) took this book straight off me saying: This is exactly what I need!

This lock down season has been hard on everyone in different way, and this book is designed help children to process those days and develop strategies to improve them.

It’s gentle on the theology making it accessible for children who are not Christians, with lots of space to write and draw and really use the book as a journal.

I really like how it gives ideas on things which you can do to change your response to ‘bad days’ and I think lots of adults would find it helpful too!

This book is 64 pages long with a thick, soft back cover. The inside is just printed in black and green, but it’s attractive and well designed. The paper is nice, thick and un-coated making it perfect for writing in, which the content ask you to do!
