Title:  Investigate! Understanding God – The Christian Faith

Author: Sophie de Mullenheim

Illustrator: Sophie Chaussade

Price: RRP £10.99 available for £9.67

Published by: Lion Hudson

Perfect for: children age 7 – 11 wanting to explore different aspects of the Christian faith

Best bit: fab cartoons of Thomas and Sophie who are the Investigators, plus brilliant links between topics to help children pursue things which are of interest to them

Worst bit: After the first page being a double page spread of Thomas and Sophie cartoon, I’d hoped for more pages like that! However, each question starts with a short cartoon strip, which is awesome!

More thoughts:

This book is a great resource, both for children in Christian families and those with no Christian background but wanting to investigate Christianity.

It is more descriptive than persuasive, and covers a great variety of topics including:

  • Was Jesus imaginary?
  • What is heaven like?
  • Is the Bible accurate?
  • Was Jesus born on December 25th?
  • How does God answer prayer?
  • What is the different between the church and the Church?
  • What are the signs of Christians?

I think this would make a great addition to a home library, and would be dipped into on a regular basis by children age 7-11, at that age where they charge through life wanting answers to lots of questions, many of which their parents might not be able (or be too exhausted from answering so many questions!) to answer.

It would also be perfect for a baptism or dedication gift for children in this age group.
